John Gamiño is a composer, filmmaker, and interdisciplinary artist based in the bay area.

He has traveled the US and Europe as a touring musician with his musical acts Mondo Drag and Coventry - performing at renowned festivals such as Roadburn, SXSW, Levitation, Noise Pop, and Psycho Las Vegas.

His travels landed him in Oakland, Ca where he has been an active member of the music and arts community for the last decade.

He is an event producer and talent buyer at Oakland’s legendary Eli’s Mile High Club, where he brings in a deep list of underground bands and DJs. He can regularly be found there on the weekends doing live visual art, filming performances, and throwing events under the banner of AV Transit.

He regularly does live visual projections and installations for events in the Bay Area, but has also had his visuals commissioned by touring artists across the US, México, and Europe.

In 2021, he co-founded Western American and launched the company with the release of the documentary film Cowboy - The Story Of Wilbert Freeman McAlister with screenings in Oakland and Los Angeles.

He served as producer, composer, and music supervisor for the film which included elements of his own original score as well as music licensed from the original Eli’s Mile High Club record label.

His progressive rock band, Mondo Drag, released their fourth studio album, “Through The Hourglass” in Fall 2023 and he’s recording his debut Coventry album this Summer 2024.
